The Steering Committee has taken the time to modernize our constitution. We’ll be asking members to approve the new constitution at the member meeting at 6:00pm on Thursday, April 14th, in Gallery 400 (400 S Peoria St.).

Democracy is a core principle of GEO: we believe you should have a say in the matters that affect your life, and voting is a way to do that. We encourage you to vote in every election, but the election on April 4th is especially important.

Over the past two weeks GEO collected survey data on grad workers’ opinions on the masking policy change. Last week we met with UIC administrators to discuss the change and its impacts on graduate workers.

Our strike last Spring was an incredible success. We won what we won together, as grad workers standing in solidarity. We could never have achieved what we did without the efforts of every GEO member, but that is especially true of Matt DeVilbiss.

After 8 days on strike, GEO has settled a great contract with a suite of economic improvements and landmark contract language on supportive measures for survivors of discrimination and sexual harassment.
