GEO and University administration returned to the table Friday April 10 for our 24th bargaining session overall-- and our 3rd with FMCS commissioner Rosa Tiscareno serving as mediator.
After the previous discussion and ranking of priorities, we passed 2 packages:
One containing Additional Employment, Leaves and Holidays, Discipline and Dismissal, and Grievance Procedure. After discussion in this long session, we agreed to step down several demands in return for gaining 1 paid sick day in the summer for those whose appointment exceeds 41 days. We have tentatively agreed to these 4 articles, making significant progress.
The other package contained Non-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment, Expenses, Health & Safety, Training, and Dues Deduction. In these articles, we ask for clarification that the protected classes include ethnicity and social caste and seek protections from external harassment and federal overreach. The university was not able to respond to this article today.
As we had been preparing these packages, there was nothing for the university to return so they made no passes to us.
